Born and raised in New Jersey, Cameron has always moved to the beat of her own drum. A competitive athlete all her life, Cameron accepted a scholarship to play lacrosse at Vanderbilt University and made a surprising move down south. She graduated with a degree in Human and Organizational Development and moved back north to NYC where she pursued a career in public relations. The confines of the corporate world proved to be anything but a good fit, so she decided it was time to move on. Not sure where to go next, Cameron picked up a desk job working for Pure Yoga and knew instantly that she had
found something special.
A long time practitioner, Cameron completed her first teacher training with Pure Yoga in 2011. Over the last decade Cameron has had the privilege of studying with various teachers with an emphasis on yoga therapeutics and restorative yoga with Dana Slamp of Prema Yoga Institute, yin yoga with Sarah and Ty Powers of Insight Yoga Institute, therapeutics with Bo Forbes and Trauma Sensitive Yoga with David Emerson of Center for Trauma and Embodiment at JRI.
As Cameron's practice continued to deepen, she made the decision to go back to school and pursue a master's degree in social work. She was hopeful her studies would compliment her teaching, and she was right. In 2012 Cameron was accepted into the MSSW program at University of Tennessee in Nashville and returned to the south, this time with her dachshund in tow.
After graduating from UT, Cameron worked as a Clinical Therapist at the Sexual Assault Center, and most recently served as the Director of Statewide Training for the Center’s professional training program. Cameron and her team provided comprehensive capacity building opportunities to sexual assault service providers across the state, with an emphasis on the psycho-physiology of trauma, trauma informed practices and practitioner wellness and resiliency.
During this time, Cameron trained with Tracy and Leigh Ann Roberts of the Circle Center in Nashville in the art of peacekeeping circles. Cameron is experienced in leading circles that place emphasis on combating burnout and fostering resilience within helping professions.
In the fall of 2019, Cameron left the Sexual Assault Center to join Resiliency Ranch Counseling, a group practice based in Brentwood & Franklin, TN. To learn more about Cameron's therapy practice, click here.
